A very warm welcome from Age Concern, and it is very warm now. You would normally expect things to quieten down in the summer but we are bucking that trend. Thank you all for supporting us.
As the years have flown by and the Charity has grown it has primarily been the same people at the helm but with an increased work load
So I am very pleased to announce that the Executive team have been joined by 3 highly qualified and committed volunteers
Peter Rapaport joins us as Treasurer. Lindsay McLaren is our new Administrator and Michelle Greenwood is on board as our new Fundraiser. We welcome all of them to the team.
In the weeks to come you will be able to find out more about Peter, Lindsay and Michelle here on our website.
After the summer heat we look forward to our Age Concern Challenge in September The over 50´s have demonstrated again and again they are capable of almost anything including Skydiving, Abseiling and Ziplining
They have always excelled and conquered fears. All are heroes in our eyes. At the same time they have raised much needed funds by being sponsored and this year will be no different. The new Challenge will be even more inclusive and no less taxing
Our social calendar has something for everyone to enjoy. Still to come will be trips to Ronda and the Lakes after the summer when it´s cooler and later on to La Cañada for some pre Xmas shopping. All terrific days out
As the nights will soon begin to draw in, (you know it’s going to happen) we will be holding our fabulous Autumn Ball. A fundraiser that we hope you will remember and put in your diary every year.
We are finalising details now but I can tell you it will be a very special evening with great food, wine, entertainment, a quality raffle and of course an opportunity for the ladies to shine
Age Concern was established 8 years ago to enhance the lives of the over 50’s English speaking community in Fuengirola, Mijas and Benalmadena and fight the hidden scourge of Loneliness and Isolation that some still accept as normality
All the work we do and everything we have achieved has only been possible through the efforts of our teams of volunteers. As we help more people so the opportunities for more volunteers continue to grow.
At the present time we are particularly looking for drivers to take people to medical appointments, shopping trips etc. An allowance is payable per km so you are not out of pocket, and you will be joining a team of people providing a much valued service within the Charity. The time you give is up to you, we do not expect you to be tied down to particular times as we know flexibility is important.
We are also looking for additional volunteers to work in our shop based in Los Boliches. The people working there are a lovely team, and all we ask is that you can spare a minimum of 4 hours a week, though if you want to do more we would be delighted.
Our Charity is committed to work around your available time and personal skill set. We look after our volunteers because they are the backbone of the organisation. So if you would like to help others and have fun while doing so then please get in touch with CHRISSIE. Either give her a call weekdays from 10 – 4pm on 711 019 711 or drop her a line (including a daytime number for a prompt reply) to email@example.com
We invite you to become part of a terrific Charity. Here you will enjoy free Welfare advice, Help, Support and Friendship in one of 4 local locations close to you
We are currently in Fuengirola (Los Boliches), La Cala, Mijas Pueblo and Arroyo, Benalmadena
Whether you join us as a Client, Volunteer, Donor or Supporter we are always accessible and here for you providing Help where Help is needed today, tomorrow and for the future.
Our drop-in meetings at all four centres will not be running during the month of August, because of the high temperatures. They will resume in September.
