AGE CONCERN FUENGIROLA  y MIJAS was established 5 years ago to provide advice, support, help and friendship and that has resonated throughout the English speaking community.  We are active in Fuengirola, Mijas and Benalmádena.

As the Charity continues to grow and the requests for our services increases we are in need of more Volunteers. If you have never thought about volunteering before now, please take the time to have a look at the opportunities we currently have. Volunteering is a fabulous way of making new friends whilst helping others at the same time.
Being a Volunteer is extremely rewarding and only requires a few hours a month of your time. As we continue to expand and help even more clients there are specific areas where those few hours can make a real difference to the lives of many people.
With more and more clients joining us every week we are now in need of 2 experienced volunteers who can head up our respective EVENTS and FUNDRAISING initiatives. We have a lot of clients to satisfy and that means we need to raise the necessary funds throughout the year.
Age Concern receive absolutely NO financial assistance from local, regional or central governments.
We also require additional DRIVERS to help us take clients to their Hospital or Doctor’s appointments. Expenses are of course covered and Spanish language skills are not necessary. Your willingness to help others will really help.
Perhaps shop work is your forte? Why not join our CHARITY SHOP TEAM in Calle Francisco Cano, Los Boliches. Our busy shop has become a hub for both the English speaking community and our Spanish neighbours. We only stock quality goods at low prices and the shop is often a first port of call for information about our services.
There is also our WELFARE service. As you would expect Welfare is a major element of the Charity. We have a number of opportunities for volunteers who have empathy and understanding. The Charity is dedicated to fighting Loneliness and Isolation and often just listening to someone who has lacked companionship can be a very positive experience.
If you can speak Spanish we would love to have you join us as an INTERPRETER. This is a very varied role where your skills can really help our clients in both face to face situations and the translation of documents.
At AGE CONCERN we recognise that our volunteers are our strength, and personal enjoyment and job satisfaction are prime ingredients. We have some of the very best volunteers, so if you wish to be with like minded people in a happy environment where everyone is valued – please get in touch.
All these roles are KEY elements for the continued success and growth of the Charity. To find out more please call 686289904 or 652537615 weekdays from 10 – 5pm. Alternatively please email the Charity at secretary@ageconcernfym.com
As we continue our fight against Loneliness and Isolation you are invited to pop into any one of our FOUR weekly drop-in social clubs located in Los Boliches, La Cala, Mijas Pueblo and Arroyo, Benalmadena – details are in the free English press, on our Facebook page and here on the website.
New clients ( whether you are residents OR long stay visitors ) are always welcome to come along and make new friends or catch up with old ones. Our clubs are FREE to join.
In addition to our weekly social clubs we hold monthly lunches, day trips and a full social calendar of events throughout the year. Most importantly we all have fun. At AGE CONCERN we encourage clients to live life to the full. There is no need to be alone with an Age Concern club on your doorstep.
If you are interested in joining us as a Volunteer, please leave your details with the club you visit, our Charity shop or call / email us. If you are a business or individual who would like to financially support our work please get in touch and we will be happy to meet you to discuss working together.
Old age is inescapable so why not make 2020 the year you decide to HELP US FIGHT LONELINESS AND ISOLATION.
Your involvement will make a REAL difference to the lives of so many older members of our community.
Steve Marshall, Secretary Age Concern Fuengirola, Mijas and Benalmadena
