Age Concern Fuengirola Mijas & Benalmadena needs your support now more than ever. Now is a fantastic time to make a significant difference to the lives of people in later life who need us the most.
Every day, in so many ways, our volunteers give their time and effort to make an incredible difference for older people. Without them, we couldn't be there when we're needed most. Be there when a lonely older person needs to talk. Be part of your community and provide vital support for older residents. Be inspired to raise money so more older people can get the help they deserve and need. Whatever you choose to do, and however much time you have to give, you'll be making an incredible difference to older people at a time in their lives when they need help the most.

Volunteer Driver, Care Companion, Interpreter and Translator
- Volunteer Driver If you love being behind the wheel and want to use your driving skills to help a charity, then you can join us as a volunteer driver, you will be helping us make a difference to older people in our community. Our drivers provide transport in their own cars for local people who are unable to use public transport, or for those living in areas where it is not available, to hospitals, health centres, clinics and other activities.
- Care Companion Loneliness can have serious effects on a person’s health. Age Concern Fuengirola MIjas & Benalmadena aims to prevent social isolation. Many people we support simply want company and conversation, whether they live alone and may not see family and friends as often as they would like, or just want a companion when going out to hospital appointments or to do the shopping. You do not need to have your own transport
- Interpreter and Translator These services for older adults are critical
- Welfare Helpline Volunteer Volunteers with our Welfare Helpline are an essential part of the work we do at Age Concern Fuengirola Mijas & Benalmadena. With training and support, our helpline volunteers learn and grow while offering compassionate, real-time support to older adults in our community.
- Events & Fundraising Associate Rally support, raise vital funds and join our fundraising volunteers. As a fundraising volunteer you decide how much time to give, and when. Help organise and support with a variety of activities such as coffee mornings, fashion shows, quizzes or that fundraising idea you've always wanted to do. Fundraising is vital to our charity as we solely rely on donations, all our personnel are volunteers and every penny raised goes back into our community.
- Skills Based Volunteers When you think of volunteering, it is not just the usual roles of charity shop workers, drivers, fundraisers that organisations like ourselves need . While hands-on volunteering is critical to fulfilling Age Concern Fuengirola Mijas & Benalmadena's mission, other forms of support and help are always needed. Here at Age Concern Fuengirola Mijas & Benalmadena we don’t have access to the resources, funding, or a pool of qualified talent. A donation of professional expertise can help us fill those gaps.
- Executive Committee It all started with a group of like-minded people who understood that there was a pressing need to create an organisation that would provide advice, help, support and most importantly friendship to the over 50’s English speaking community.
Our Care Companions use public transport or could even be a support by being that reassuring arm on a walk to an appointment. If you would like to learn more about our Care Companion service please contact us .
Many of the people we support need help with spoken or written language whether at a physical appointment or understanding a document they have received and they don't know what to do. Under regular circumstances a health appointment can be nerve-wracking. Without the support of interpreters and translators many older adults will choose to miss important appointments or opportunities to get involved in activities. Language barriers mean our older adults are at risk of poor health outcomes and lack access to vital services to keep them well. If you could support us with this vital service please contact us.
The charity has gone from strength to strength. We are an entirely autonomous local charity with a Executive Committee of members who are responsible for the strategic direction of the charity, ensuring we are always doing the very best we can to make life better for the older population in our community.
We offer a wide range of services designed to help and support older and vulnerable adults to stay independent for as long as they wish to.
As an Executive Committee member, you will be essential to the continued success of this well established and well-regarded charity.
