Age Concern 12 Bars of Christmas 4th December
Mobility and transport are key in helping older adults to remain healthy, active and connected in later life, such as getting to the shops or the hospital, or seeing friends and family and participating in community life. It also serves emotional needs, improving both quality of life and wellbeing as we age. Age Concern Fuengirola, Mijas & Benalmadena currently offer services for those struggling with mobility and transport issues such as; standard wheelchairs and walking aids, volunteer transport services to appointments and organised volunteer supported excursions.
To continually update their services Age Concern has identified the need that the most vulnerable of their clients are still unable to benefit from the above services as their daily lives rely on the use of an electric wheelchair or mobility scooter. These aids are often heavy and do not fold therefore making it impossible to fit in a standard vehicle or even a coach. The charity wants to make sure they are inclusive and are able to support the range of needs in the community and are looking to raise funds to purchase two folding electric wheelchairs.
The 4th December will see a charity fundraising event in Fuengirola of the 12 Bars of Christmas to support this cause. For a 5 euro ticket, event participants will benefit from exclusive bar promotions, surprise raffles and entertainment along the route. The event will culminate in live music and bar snacks for all entrants at the final bar. Participants are encouraged to wear festive attire and enjoy some festive fun whilst raising vital funds for the chairty. Tickets can be purchased by calling 619792738 or by visiting the Los Boliches Charity Shop at Calle Francisco Cano 56B, Fuengirola 29640.
